Freshers
Assalamu Alaikum and welcome to the freshers’ page!
If you are reading this, then inshaAllah you may be joining us in October and here you can find lots of up-to-date information on what to expect when you arrive, a bit more about the LSE Muslim life and some other useful hints and tips. If you have any other questions then feel free to contact anyone on the committee or e-mail su.soc.Islamic@lse.ac.uk
Life as a Muslim at the LSE
Alhamdulillah – all praise is due to God – Muslims are completely free to practice their faith whilst studying at one of the most culturally diverse universities in the world. The atmosphere at the LSE is one of tolerance, appreciation and understanding. The stereotypical stuffy image that is often attached to universities such as the LSE is on the whole, inaccurate and misleading, including all the geekiness-of-the-LSE-crowd assumptions…!
The Islamic Society
The Islamic Society (more commonly known as the ISoc) is a very active student body with around 300+ officially registered members. It hosts regular social and educational events to help Muslims meet with each other in a pleasant environment and provides opportunities for them to learn about their faith. A typical week is packed with circles, mentoring sessions, weekly socials, perhaps a talk by an invited speaker and of course Jum’a (friday) prayers.
ISoc members are encouraged to participate and there is a variety of subcommittees to get involved in. The ISoc executive and sub committee heads are here to manage the everyday running of the ISoc and are to serve your needs, so feel free to get in touch.
The award winning LSESU Islamic Society is one of the most active and diverse societies. We offer a wide variety of services for Muslims and Non-Muslims.
